The seedlings for the garden have been started, and the lamps are set up in the front room picture window. Today's been frustratingly cold and rainy, but tomorrow looks sunny and promising.

Lights are on, it was somebody's home (1230 N. Burling St., William Green Homes)

Lights are on, it was somebody's home (1230 N. Burling St., William Green Homes), originally uploaded by GXM..
Shot of the Project Cabrini-Green art installation in progress, in conjunction with the CHA and SAIC. Blinking LED lights were placed in all 134 housing units, that once housed hundreds if not thousands of families in its 38 year existence.
Each light is programmed with a pattern that's the translation of a spoken word poem, authored by a member of the Cabrini community in response to the overwhelming changes, emotions, and constant destruction occurring within this community. In this shot, you see 6 "poems" in progress; lit units on floors 3, 4, 5, 10, 12, and 13.
To the right (above the 2/2 blizzard snowpile), you see a 7-story mid-rise, which replaced the Cabrini Extension building at 1158-1160 N. Larrabee. Looming over it is the near-north skyline, buildings like the John Hancock Center and 900 North Michigan.

Domestic twilight - featured on Gapers Block: Rearview 3/3/2011
Honored to have this shot selected for the home page feature on Gapers' Block today. It was rather sudden & unmemorable, I was in the kitchen about 5:30 or so, and the intensity of the pink sunlight caught my eye.
Without any interior lighting, the house was abnormally dark, except for that sunlight. We have large windows on both ends of the house - the kitchen/breakfast area gets the brilliant morning sun, and the living room gets beautiful sunsets like this.
